The UK has sold of the rights to offshore gas and oil, not all but enough, and is siting on a ton of untapped shale gas. This was from September 2021 and is my actual bill. Nowadays the Standing Charge is higher than that and the fuel cost is as much as the whole bill was then. - add another 42% in a few months and the cost will have basically tripled in a year - or we can go get our own gas and stop mucking about.
