If you're reading during the last few days of the Northward Bound mini-event that brought the land expansion you will need to complete the prize track and the end-of-quest tasks before you can open up the new land.
If you're reading later, a newer player or returning because you've started a new town you will need to have done enough of the Springfield Heights tasks to have unlocked the tile ocean-side of the bridge first.
If you did the mini event you should at least have Connie Appleseed ( prize ) and maybe Cookie ( premium ) to help. They'll hopefully show up in a mystery box or as returning items at some point if not, but you can get the land without them.
Connie and Cookie, along with Homer, Moe and Wiggum can be used for the tasks to unlock the land and to earn Deeds afterwards.
Once it triggers, this is the questline and some notes to help you -
➧ Questline : Brave New World ( 4 parts )
➧ Part 1
• Collect Wood x15
• Collect Nails x15
They're 4h tasks, the freemium characters earn 5 each and Cookie earns 8 of the resources when on task - but . . .
With all 5 you can earn 15 of one and 13 of another, leaving you 2 short !!
If you're in no rush, don't have Connie and Cookie or have side quests for them just sending the 3 regular characters for each resource is only 2 sets of 4 hours.
Throw Donuts at it if you can spare them, 2 sprinkles rushing anyone saves that extra 4 hours or use 8 Donuts to rush Cookie twice on each and you're done :smile:
➧ Part 2
• Make the Group Fix the Bridge - x3 - 4h
Again, good time for side quests or if you're sending on 4 hour tasks anyway who cares !!
When you complete this part it will unlock the first tile in the new land and you get it free :smile:
➧ Part 3
• Make the Group Prospect the New Frontier - 8h
You will have been given 10 Maps, so while you only need to send 1 you can send 3 of the group on these tasks.
You need 3 Maps per task to send them and each will earn you a Deed to buy more land :smile:
➧ Part 4
• Make Homer Marvel at all the Donut Veins - 4h
I didn't get this to trigger until I'd bought some of the new land, it isn't critical but getting it out of the way means you won't have to worry about having Homer busy later :smile:
Keep collecting Maps and use them to send characters on tasks to earn more Deeds or just throw sprinkles at it and rush buying the tiles you want :smile:

A quick note on images - There's a composite of the pics I'll mention as I go in the OP. I'll refer to them left to right, top to bottom so its 1+2, 3+4 and 5+6 in the three rows.

Let's start with some good stuff . . .
DUPLICATES

While not everyone had this, some players found some of the rows of new land contained extras of each item stacked one on top of the other. In my B town I had that in the first 15 rows and for 22 rows in my A town. I have heard of some players getting 3 or even 4 of everything !?!
If you enter Design Mode and tap a single item and it shows red not green there's at least one of those things underneath and hidden. Move the one you tapped and pop - there's another left behind. I don't know if it moved the duplicate or the original having only had them doubled up but if there's more you can repeat moving to get more.
The duplicate Shacks don't have a pay-out but it's not a bad little building :smile:
Three notes of caution . . .
I don't know, but the extras probably affect the item count.
Beware you don't sell instead of store - I read everything can be sold, even un-mined rocks !!
Be careful mining - I'll get to that in the next bit, but don't blitz the lot if you got duplicates.
A last tip . . .
If you got duplicates you want to move but you don't want to separate them use Area Select and move them as a group.
MINING

There's free Donuts in them there rocks !!
When you unlock a Tile there will be a glowing pile of rocks which will give a random amount of Donuts when tapped :smile:
If you got the duplicates glitch you can tell by looking closely at the bobbing pickaxes - the one in the pic is a double.
You don't have to separate them to mine them, it will award one vein at a time as you tap.
You might get anything from just a few to a jackpot 100 Ds from any vein, but it seems to average out at around 11 a vein based on what I managed to get in my 2 towns and what I've read in the last few days.
A combined tip and warning . . .
Don't go mad if you got duplicates and rushed all the land - I'll get to rushing land next - tap a few and then do a sync and check it saved them correctly ( pop to the Friends Towns bit and back if you didn't know what a sync was ). I suspect it stops saving after you mine the first 150 veins ( one for each new Tile ).
I burnt through the lot in my B town and got 2,630 Ds but after a sync it lost 935. Still 1,595 grind-free Ds but I was not a happy bunny losing a load !!
In my A town I did a few rows worth at a time and then did a sync until I'd added 1,593 Ds and it stopped saving them. I tried a couple more veins but it didn't let me keep those last few sprinkles - grrrr !!
There is some hope - I tapped an A town vein by accident getting the screenshot and it seemed to save, so I tapped the other vein and definitely got to keep those. I think I'll tap a few a day from the veins that are left rather than do a load and risk wasting any more - even if I'm not short on Ds !!
RUSHING GETTING LAND

Don't be tempted to rush getting Maps - I'll have more on Maps next - but it might be worth 4 Ds a pop rushing tasks for Deeds if you're in a hurry. Didn't check but those probably drop to 2 Ds when you're under 4 hours to go.
The easy way to get land in a hurry if you need it fast or have sprinkles to spare and want it all is to just enter Design Mode and tap to go and buy the Tiles.
It will use Deeds if you have them, so you can't bank them for future use, but it will give you the option to pay with Donuts for any Deeds you are short - at 15 Ds per Deed needed.
If you had no Deeds and wanted a Tile for 2 Deeds, or had 3 Deeds but wanted a Tile for 5 you could just pay 30 Ds for those 2 Deeds you need.
The Tiles in the last row cost 7 Deeds or 105 Ds each !!
GETTING MAPS AND DEEDS FOR THE NEW LAND

The Prospector's Shack unlocked with that first free Tile pays out one Map every 8 hours. Don't forget to pop over and collect them !!
You should find if you do a SkyFinger tap when it's ready to collect and then do a sync it gives you an extra Map :smile:
If you completed the Black Friday 2021 prize track, or if it comes back and you get it later, the Jackpot Realty building pays out 5 Maps every 24 hours which will save a whole heap of time if you're not rushing. Sadly I didn't get it and those I know who did rushed so I can't say if the SkyFinger tip works for that too or what you get if it did.
EDIT - I've just been informed the SkyFinger boost does work on Jackpot Realty, getting 10 Maps per day :smile:
When it works and you've got all the land the Shack will switch to IGC and pay out $300 and 30 XP every 8 hours instead - again can't say about Jackpot Realty a I don't own it as I type this.
A warning . . .
Don't rush getting Maps. It costs 6 Ds a pop and doesn't go down over time, even with only a moment or two to go. Fair enough if you just want the one in a hurry but it costs less to rush buying the Tile than getting the Maps for it !!

Here's my A town Shack sitting right by an un-bought Tile and it decided it should switch to IGC. It first happened when I had no Deeds banked either, so it's not as though I had all I needed to get the land the usual way instead of sprinkles.
Fixing it, or at least a bit of a work-round is a pain too.
A SkyFinger tap won't work, ever, and it needs good timing to get there just before it's ready to pay.
If I get the timing right and tap to buy that Tile and then Cancel it switches back to showing the tasks and paying Maps until Bart or a badly timed sync sends it back to IGC.
EDIT - While still temporary and needs a bit of good timing it's simpler than I thought - just go into Design Mode and back :smile:
If it pops up ready to pay IGC that's it, try again in 8 hours.

When everything is as it should be and one or more of the characters is free you'll get the bobbing tap me, I've got jobs thingamajig you can see in the pic.
You'll get that even if you don't have enough Maps though but it might be worth a quick check . . .

Almost done, and this is a quick one too :smile:
When you have enough Maps you can tap on the Shack and set tasks to earn more Deeds. They take 8 hours so perhaps overnight or while you're at work, and they can be rushed for 4 Ds a task.
I expect that drops after 4 hours too, but didn't check.

Overview
When Springfield hears about the Northwest Passage and how much trading it’s bringing into Canada, they decide it’s time to find their own new trading route to the north.
Unequipped to navigate the harsh, northern frontier themselves, Springfield hires Connie Appleseed to guide the local residents through the wilderness. However, it quickly becomes apparent that modern day life has left these would-be settlers without the rugged nature required to survive such an expedition. After a gruelling trek, the group finally reaches the entrance to the frontier, with one small problem: there’s a canyon in the way and the bridge is broken. Connie believes the bridge can be fixed if everyone works together, but the “solution” presented by Homer doesn’t pan out. It’s now up to Connie Appleseed to figure out a way to repair the bridge so the adventurers can reach the new frontier.

After the event prize track is completed, players will have access to a new land expansion, accessible through Springfield Heights. In order to unlock this land, players will need to unlock the available land from Springfield Heights that leads to the bridge, and complete a quest to repair the bridge across the canyon. Once repaired, the player has access to the new land area and the first land tile on the other side of the bridge is unlocked by default.
On the other side of the bridge is a “Prospector’s Shack” already placed in the land. This building serves as the hub from which the player can send characters on prospecting jobs that unlock new land tiles in this new area. Tapping on this building shows the list of characters who can do these prospecting jobs, and the player can start the jobs from there. These jobs require Prospector Maps which are generated automatically over time by this building, and award Land Deeds to unlock the new land tiles.
As part of the event storyline, rumor has it that there are donuts in them thar hills, and everyone is headed to the northeast for the donut rush.
Every new land tile unlocked in the northeast will have a special donut vein decoration randomly placed in it, like a vein of ore, except full of donuts. When the player taps on the donut vein, they mine it and receive a small random amount of donuts, and then the vein becomes normal rocks.
To speed up the rate of acquiring the needed Prospector Maps, the player can acquire the Jackpot Realty building which generates Prospector Maps with its normal income job. Jackpot Realty is the final prize on the Black Friday prize track.
Land tiles in the new land expansion cannot be unlocked with the Free Land Tokens already existing in the game, and can only be unlocked using Land Deeds from the Prospector’s Shack.
With all this new land, the building cap has been increased by 1000, as well!
